OF WOMEN A HIT AT PAMA At the recent Profession Aviation Maintenance Association
conference in Long Beach, CA the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance
(AWAM) arranged a gallery of pictures portraying women in various jobs within
the aviation maintenance industry. Posters of women aviation
maintenance technicians doing their jobs were arranged in a gallery setting in
the reception area at the PAMA conference.
Shuttle technicians, airline mechanics , technicians building their own
aircraft and general aviation maintenance technicians are samples of the women
pictured in the gallery. AWAM also had a booth and hosted
a breakfast during the conference. The
booth contained AWAM information and had special items for sale.
The breakfast was in honor of women in the aviation maintenance career field.
Many attendees were women in technology and others interested in learning
about AWAM. Robin Lamar, AWAM President,
said that, “While AWAM has had a booth at PAMA previously, this was our first
year to participate on a wider basis. We
thank PAMA for that opportunity and hope to continue on this level at future
conferences.” AWAM is a four year old
organization whose mission is to provide support and to champion women’s
professional growth in aviation maintenance/technology.
This is accomplished through education, scholarships, networking and
informational publications. For
more information, call 386-424-5780 or visit us at www.awam.org. ### |
